Activities Staff Person - Assisted Living Residence / Memory Care (Tampa)

Job Description: 
  • We are currently seeking for an Activities Staff Person with the right skill set to join our team. The activities department contributes to the broad

  • spectrum of health care through treatment, education, and the provision of adapted recreational opportunities - all of which are instrumental to improving and maintaining physical, cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, preventing secondary health conditions, enhancing independent living skills and overall quality of life.

  • Our senior Assisted Living Facility in Tampa Florida offers a unique blend of assisted living, Alzheimer and memory support care and respite care - all geared toward providing seniors an option for retirement living that combines comfort and security knowing that help is always available when needed.

Schedule / Hours: 
  • The basic characteristics of the schedule are as follows:

  • Variable Hours Schedule.

  • Able to work weekends and holidays (if and as needed).

  • Must be computer proficient.

Job Requirements: 
  • A passion for working with the elderly, especially individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

  • Be organized, creative, upbeat and great at leading assistants and volunteers.

  • Ability to work with the elderly, especially individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

  • Be able to communicate effectively and compassionately with seniors.

  • Able to react to emergency situations appropriately when required.

  • Be an energetic individual with the creativity and enthusiasm needed to work with this population.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational and time management skills required.

  • Must possess outstanding customer service skills (friendly, good attitude and calm disposition) and the ability to interact and build relationship with older adults.

  • Work independently, be self motivated with multi-tasking abilities, and be detail oriented.

  • Must be dependable, responsible, and punctual.

  • Professional personal/dress required.

  • Must be able to clear level 2 background check (no criminal record), drug screening, and Tuberculosis testing.

Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Work directly with the residents of the assisted living and memory support unit under the direction of the activities director.

  • Assist the activities director with the therapeutic activities programming both for specific individuals and for groups.

  • Work with volunteers assisting with the activities under the direction of the activities director.

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, when necessary.

  • Assist residents in the dining room and café with lunch, dinner, and snacks if needed, and time allows for it.

  • Attend regular off-site outings, when scheduled.

  • Implement the posted monthly activity calendar.

  • Obtain materials and conduct activities tailored to the needs of individual residents.
